Health Habitus & Motivational Interviewing
In this training, the Health Habitus Integration (HHI) method is combined with Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Health Habitus is our usual ways or tendencies of taking care of our mental, emotional, and physical health and well-being. It is shaped by the interaction between health choices and the health-related opportunities and resources available to us. Both choices and opportunities are determined by our place in the social structure and by cultural influences.
Motivational Interviewing is a communication approach aiming to encourage and motivate change and resolve ambivalence to change.
Health Habitus Motivational Interviewing (HHMI) is a communication approach that offers Peer Advocates additional skills to support youth and families to achieve their goals using MI strategies informed by their Health Habitus.
